The 45- hour victim advocacy course is designed for advocates. Our goal is to teach participants human centric, trauma informed and healing centered advocacy skills. Participants will be prepared to work in victim advocacy arenas, such as domestic violence shelters, crisis centers, crisis hotlines, and with state and county governments to assist crime victims in progressing through the criminal justice system, with case management and towards embarking on a healing journey.

Objectives:

-To create a deeper understanding of the systems in which we work

-To dive into specific dynamics around crimes against persons

-To explore service delivery through an intersectional lens

-To provide a deeper understanding of psychophysiological response to trauma

-To provide a deeper understanding of trauma informed/healing centered care

-To articulate the importance of being all present

-To deliver tools and modalities that are useful

-To discuss the importance of systems change and community coordination
